Post Drupaltin 5.x-1.0a Released! Feedback wanted

The Overclocked is proud to announce the first release of Drupaltin! We have been working extremely hard on this product and we have finally got the alpha up.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated. We are looking for developers who would like to help out with the project as well. PM me if you are interested.

Question Drupaltin fully activated on TheOverclocked?

Hello Jordan,

thx for this great Software! Just out of curiosity, have you enabled your full product on this site? Currently I'm not logged in at http://www.theoverclocked.com/Drupaltin. (the redirect to vb registration in the custom Login Block did work for me though)

It still doesn't work (and it didn't worked before I've changed my email, too).

Hey Roi

I was in the middle of editing my login forms when I got called into work. Regardless, the login system works but is a little buggy yet.

Not to worry though, I'm currently developing a new version which will be out tonight or tomorrow!

Hello to all working on Drupaltin - it looks like just what I'm after!

I tried to download it but the link is inactive (#) when will it be downloadable again?

Also, is there a page anywhere that compares Drupaltin's features with those of vBdrupal and DrupalvB?

I think one of the big plus points for Drupaltin is that it does not require any edits to either Drupal or vBulletin, which should hopefully mean both platforms can be upgraded to the latest versions as normal.

I have lots of questions, I'll have a read/look around and start a new thread in a mo.

Thanks for all your hard work, I think this could be just what a lot of vB users have been crying out for

Hi Brook

I took the download down this evening because I'm working on the next version which fixes login issues and much more. It is going to have a lot of changes and I don't recommend 5.x-1.0a yet.

I will put it back up right now though since the major reason I took it down turned out to be a false alarm.

Remember, this is alpha so I would not go about installing it on your production site

Play around with it though and let me know what you think. Thanks!

Thanks Jordan - I have downloaded it and will try to install it on a test site this weekend.

So far from what I've read it looks brilliant!

Just a quick question - If I used Drupaltin for say 5 months, but later decide to uninstall it - how will it effect my site? In particular the users that have registered since it was installed... If they are not affected/deleted - that would be a massive plus as it means if things don't work out you can basically 'revert' back to vB by deactivating/uninstalling the plug-in. This I feel will be a great incentive for people to 'try it out'

I am a complete nube when it comes to Drupal but know vB pretty well so I hope I'll be able to offer some good feedback. Hopefully, if you get this to a stable release I'll help promote it too. If you get it rock solid - I think it could be big!

As of the current release 5.x-1.0a when you install the plugin in the vBulletin admincp, it will connect to your drupal database and push all of the existing users into a new table called users_backup. Primarily the reason I would say it doesn't work well with existing Drupal sites is because if you had a user in Drupal but not vB then they would be gone.

But it is the opposite for vBulletin. The users never get removed or even edited. The vBulletin database goes untouched as of now, we just read from it.

When you uninstall the plugin Drupaltin will move those users it stored in users_backup back as regular Drupal users.

So in a nutshell:
Existing Drupal users + Drupaltin = Gone until you uninstall
Existing vBulletin users + Drupaltin = Never touched

Also realize that while Drupaltin is installed, the users in vBulletin will keep in sync with the users in the Drupal database. So if you had new members register while you had Drupaltin installed, you will not loose them when you uninstall Drupaltin. They will not have an account in Drupal, but a simple SQL query could change that in a heartbeat for you.

Did I confuse you there? A lot to grasp without seeing it in front of you

I will say one more thing before I click that "Submit Reply" button, the user management functions are under the knife as we speak. If all goes to plan, all that above won't matter anyways

Back to topic: Login works almost fine now - besides the case I login from within Drupal (minor issue): After the automatic forwarding I'm not logged in Drupal. I have to reload the page to be logged in.

This weekend I'll test your module on my page.

Cool another tester.

This drupal plugin will rock at this rate. You may even see more sites using the plugin because of the lack of CMS tools that are compatable with vb (which there are none as far as i know). Where are you planning on releasing this plugin Jordan? Just on TOCF or will you be using vbulletin.org to let others download it as well?

Once I get a beta or stable release I'm going to put it up at vbulletin.org and Drupal.org (if I can). We need to get some propaganda made too like those little tags people use like this one:

Or perhaps some larger banners as well. Anyone good in the graphic design field?

Excellent! I think this point alone will get people to try it as it's pretty much on a no risk basis

Hows this for the basis of a logo:

(Click to see on white background)

Idea stems from a patchwork quilt - like everything being brought together to make something
