Canon vs Xerox

Ok, I'm in the market for a high quality photo scanner, and no I don't havel ike $600 to just go buy an Epson pro series scanner that does like w/e 10k x 10k native, not that i'd ever spend that much on just a scanner anyways

SO
Its come to this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16838152007
against
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16838111012
that

the Xerox also has a $50 MIR from Xerox.com (so i'd basically get it for $30) which expires Mar 31 '07 (so i've got like a week to decide lol)

the Canon offers a higher resolution and is lighter weight (which leads me to believe its generally going to be less bulky, given that its like ~3lbs lighter)

I see the Xerox's merits being
A) cheap
B) can get it here free
C) fairly high resolution (currently i'm working on a 1200x3600 HP that takes about 20 min to do that, f that)

the Canon's merits being
A) higher resolution
B) probably slimmer/smaller

so, what would you go with? I like the Xerox's price but I'm wondering if i'll regret buying it after i get it and rebate it

I am a supporter of canon, but I use a epson scanner that someone gave me. My uncle has one of those nice epson ones for photos. I know he shelled out a lot for and he also has one of those wide format epson photo printers. I think he paid $800 for the printer. I would personally go with the canon one if I where you. I bought a canon copier last week and I could not be more happier with it. I would also check on slickdeals or fatwallet. They will sometimes post deals on scanners, printers and things like that. Thats how I got my copier for $24. They retail for $150, but amazon had them on sale and then another instant off and a $50 rebate.
