is it a bad sound?

my psu (i think) is making a sounds when my x1950xt is under load(like overclocking it with ati tool)

it makes a low "bzzt" sound repeatedly until i quit the artifact scan

so my psu isn't up to the task and is making out is what i am thinking.

edit: ok its definitely my psu, and only does it when i scan for artifacts with ati tool

I'd be VERY cautious about running that PSU any longer. It's obviously being over worked.

Sounds NOT related to the fans in the PSU are always a bad thing imo.

I'm sads, one of my PSUs appears to be squealing (on my desktop), and i'm getting BSODs
sad part is, it's my best psu (500w antec smartpower 2), and that computer SHOULDN'T stress that thing more than 50%...
It could be the mobo, though.. (/me needs a DMM)

i have a jpac (probably)junky psu. came with my previous case. has 1 2v rail with 18a on it

haven't tested it yet. should jump it and test it now.

just to hook it to my video card

was thinking about this. open it up, hook both rails to a molex and run it to my video card. hook the 2 wires from it's 20 pin connector to my mobo 24 pin connector so it jump starts it on start up

edit: i just did a little research on the jpac. it seams it might be a DEER brand psu or a L&C brand psu. no way is it getting anywhere near my new card

lol yeah. Just learn how to build your own and make a small dedicated for the card. Parts will cost nothing and it would be a good project

What all do you have running on it? HDDs, CPU voltage and speed, etc.

Try unhooking your 130cfm fans and see if the voltage goes back up. Those things do pull a ton of power.

that isn't so bad, iirc the max tolerance on 12v is around 12.3 for worst case scenario
