| The Overclocked Forums | Bios Mod. Im looking through the BIOS utilities and i have a few issues. For one i dont know what the BIOSes name is so i cant access it. For two i have no intention to mess up my BIOS. Three, what utility can i use to extract my BIOS. I need this because there isnt a place i can get it. Not even the manufacturers site. I want to make a backup before even accessing my BIOS because i know that can mess it up.And last but not least, is Pheonix-Award the same as Award only (like in the warnings in the utilities thread "USE FOR AWARD BIOSES ONLY").. | ||||

| The Overclocked Forums | Ok well i got some CPU-Z shot of the Mainboard Section. I know the manufacturer is Chaintech. Im guessing the board is this board. It seems that they now have a BIOS for me so it looks like om in bussines. I downloaded it. But in the Bios Utility Section there it does not have a utility. OMFG. WTF do i do with this? | Member Associate ![]() Posts: 108 | Well Chaintech seems to use the Alt-F2 method of updating the bios but you could use Awdflash 8.23F to save a copy of your current file. Just google for awdflash 8.23F and find a download for it. Seems you got the Taiwan version of the bios file. Tmod | ||||

| The Overclocked Forums | Ok i went back to Chaintech and got the BIOS for the board without OnBoard LAN (which mine does not have). Seems to be a archive where there was a .BIN file in. That is my bios. But since there isnt a tool and it is just a .BIN file ill have to flash it with a tool right? If so any recomendations? Oh and this is extremely touchy for me. The Video card was one thing since i have like 10 here. I dont have too many floppies and no more Socket A mobos laying around. | ||||

When you boot with that file on a floppy and hit Alt-F2 it will automatically start the flash sequence. If you want to save the file or flash using a utility just download Awdflash 8.23F as I stated and use that. Using Awdflash the command line would look like this Awdflash 7via1524.bin /Sy /Pn That line would save the file to the floppy without writing the bios over. Now if you want to flash the bios using Awdflash just use the following command line. Awdflash 7via1524.bin /Sn /Py /CC the CC will clear the CMOS and you will have to re-enter all the settings in the bios so make sure you write them down BEFORE flashing the bios. Tmod

Awdflash was meant to run from a bootable floppy using DOS as the OS. Tmod
